The self-paced SimPraxis® Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Trainer is a robust, elegant and engaging way to learn.

This SimPraxis Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy iPad App is an interactive professional-level surgical simulation trainer. Divided into four modules, it is designed to significantly advance your surgical knowledge, efficiency and competency. Ideal for the entire surgical team: surgeons, residents, surgical technologists and surgical assistants. This cognitive trainer employs operating room video, interactive simulation, animation, and complete formative tracking and summative scoring in order to provide meaningful and accurate self-assessment.

Your learning objectives using this SimPraxis Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Trainer include:
• The specific surgical steps of the Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy procedure;
• Key operative decision-making and judgment;
• Respective roles of the surgeon and assistant;

• Pre- and post-op considerations.

The primary author is Mika N. Sinanan M.D. PhD, University of Washington with significant contribution from Warren Widman, MD, Columbia University. [Note: Due to the large amount of intraoperative video, entire Trainer requires 2.4 GB free space on your iPad.]

Module 1: Comprehensive Introduction to the Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Surgical Procedure: Quickly build your competency and confidence on the Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy surgical procedure. The Base Module for the SimPraxis Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy iOS application includes: Intro to Training; Intro to the Lap Chole Procedure; Critical Anatomy; Surgical Risks; User Guide; Indications for Surgery; Informed Consent; Operating Room Setup, Patient Preparation, On Table Equipment Setup, Overview of Surgical Instruments; Interactively Select Instruments; and Patient Positioning.

We recognize, and you should understand, that as it is the case with most surgical procedures there are slightly different ways to perform a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. We will train you on a standard technique, and where there are differences with other surgeons, we will point these out to you as you proceed through the training and explain the rational for the variations.

Prompts, Instructions, Hints and Error messages are provided to assist in your learning experience.

Risks, anatomy quizzes and procedure step quizzes, are provided to test your knowledge and progress.

Tailor your individual training with these available in-app purchases:
